Khutba: Love & Compassion

In an unorthodox attempt to cover different issues every Friday, I am announcing the khutba for this coming jumuah at New Brunswick Islamic Center. I will talk about marriage and family relationship based on love and compassion.

Why am I announcing this forthcoming khutba? Is it a Valentine's Day thing?
No, I think we as a community have neglected marriage issues as a whole. Muslim couples are looking for tips and some guidance but they do not find it from Muslim sources. Unfortunately, people look for advice on love from people who aspire for a different manzil (destination).
Since many of us are bombarded with messages of "buying love" through radio, TV, internet ads, I will use this media frenzy to promote inshAllah a sound understanding of love at home. For love is not for sale at the flower shop today.
There are three magical words if said with sincerity can unlock the heart of your partner. The are "I Love You".

"Our Lord, grant us the delight of our eyes from our spouses and our offspring..." Koran 25:74.
